The second season of the Prime Video show will pick up with the representatives of Heaven and Hell after the events of season 1, in which they tried to stop the arrival of the Antichrist and nip Armageddon in the bud - as you do. But they've got so much more chaos to delve into.
Season 2 is as starry as expected, with fan favourites like Jon Hamm's Gabriel returning. Meanwhile, we're in for a family reunion as Tennant's father-in-law, Peter Davison, and son Ty Tennant will be joining him on the cast - a decision that Gaiman recently publicly defended.

Good Omens season 2 release date
Good Omens season 2 will be released on Prime Video on 28th July 2023.
The news was announced on 10th May, the anniversary of when the book was first published, with Prime Video tweeting a new poster with a lyric from Buddy Holly's Everyday.
They added in the caption: "And on the 10th of May, we were given a date for season 2, and it is ineffably good. Good Omens returns July 28th on @PrimeVideo."

It was confirmed upon the announcement of season 2 that both Michael Sheen and David Tennant would be reprising their respective roles of angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley.
The iconic duo have since gone on to work together on lockdown comedy Staged, and announced their return in typically humorous style.
“Personally I’m against it, but the world isn’t going to just save itself, is it?" said Sheen. "If David and I can manage to not fall out too badly this time it may even have a chance of getting finished.”
Tennant added: “The return of Good Omens is great news for me, personally. As I get to work with Michael again, and I get to say Neil’s wonderful words once more. It’s probably less good for the universe as it almost certainly means there will be some fresh existential threat to its existence to deal with, but, you know – swings and roundabouts...”
Also returning for the new episodes is Jon Hamm as the Archangel himself Gabriel, which was announced on the 16th December 2021.
Neil Gaiman, writer and co-showrunner, comments: “Good Omens 2 just would not be the same without the astonishing Jon Hamm as Gabriel, everyone's worst boss. The story that Terry Pratchett and I created all those years ago continues to take us from London's Soho into Heaven and Hell.
"It's a delight for me to bring back characters we loved (or hated) and bring in new characters, from the shiniest top floors of Heaven to the dankest basements of Hell, to love (or to hate, or to love to hate or hate to love). All of them are part of the strange and unusually beloved family of Good Omens."

Douglas Mackinnon, director and co-showrunner added: "I couldn’t be happier that Jon has come back to do more Good Omens as the Archangel Gabriel, who is second in command in Heaven. He joins us nearly halfway through production, when we have already welcomed to the Good Omens 2 family familiar faces in familiar roles, familiar faces in unfamiliar roles, and unfamiliar faces in unfamiliar roles. We also have an unfamiliar face in a familiar role."
We now know that two familiar faces in unfamiliar roles are Maggie Service and Nina Sosanya, who played nuns in the Chattering Order of Saint Beryl in season 1, but now play two characters, who just happen to be called Maggie and Nina!
We know that the Maggie character will be running the record shop next to Aziraphale’s bookshop in Soho, while Nina runs a coffee shop across the road.
Miranda Richardson is also back in a new role as Shacks, the demon who has replaced Crowley in his role, while Shelley Conn takes over Anna Maxwell Martin's role as Beelzebub.
Additionally, Donna Preston will be playing a brand-new character Mrs Sandwich, and other new angels added to the cast are Saraqael (Liz Carr) and Muriel (Quelin Sepulveda).
Meanwhile, other cast members from season 1 set to return in brand new roles include Paul Adeyefa (Bancroft, Ransom) and Michael McKean (This Is Spinal Tap, Better Call Saul).

Prime Video also released the season 2 title sequence, which Gaiman revealed features "more Easter eggs than a fancy Easter egg shop the week before Easter."

Good Omens season 2 plot
Gaiman told RadioTimes.com in 2017 that his planned sequel with Pratchett was "about where the angels actually came from", and that the extra angels in season 1 – including Jon Hamm's Gabriel – were drawn from those plans.
It, therefore, seems that season 2 will be some sort of origin story – with Gaiman confirming on his website that "our story actually begins about five minutes before anyone had got around to saying 'Let there be Light'".
Gaiman also promised fans would have “the answers [they’ve] been hoping for” and teased some cryptic plot details also: “We are back in Soho, and all through time and space, solving a mystery, which starts with an angel wandering through Soho, with no memory.”
Fans had also speculated since season 1 that Crowley and Aziraphale could turn their electric chemistry into a romance – an idea that Gaiman seems open to.
The internet was abuzz with hopes the angel and demon could become “Ineffable Husbands” following the announcement of season two, with Gaiman replying to a fan query with a cryptic "wait and see".
