The Real St Nick (2012)

A mysterious young guy (Callard Harris) who believes he's Santa Claus after getting knocked unconscious brings Christmas magic to a California hospital in this quirky festive romp from Wayne's World director Penelope Spheeris. Pretty psychiatrist Torrey DeVitto figures he's delusional, but naturally falls hard for him nonetheless, while variously troubled patients in the children's and mental health wings are transformed by his infectious energy and hammered-home homilies. The result is a reality-light TV movie that's familiar yet fun: consisting of a series of boisterous set pieces, largely involving Harris's nocturnal escapades with fellow "nuts", held together by a far-fetched if warm central romance. Lively performances prove the main draw - with Kenneth Choi stealing every scene as an Asian-American who thinks he's Jack Nicholson in, of course, One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest.
